Dr Floyd is a clinical pharmacologist and pharmaceutical physician working in early-phase drug discovery. He studied pre-clinical medicine at the University of Cambridge, before completing his clinical studies at University College London. After undertaking junior medical jobs at a variety of London teaching hospitals, Dr Floyd read for a PhD in the ‘Proteomics of Aspirin Resistance’ at King’s College London (KCL). In 2014, Dr Floyd started specialist training in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (CPT) and General Internal Medicine (GIM) at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals. Two years later he returned to KCL as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer, where he undertook research into cardiovascular risk and provided specialist clinics at Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust. On completing of clinical training, Dr Floyd moved into the pharmaceutical industry. He currently works in drug discovery at GSK where he focuses on the translational strategy in early clinical development across multiple therapeutic areas. He also holds a visiting Senior Lectureship at KCL.
